Surgical treatment
The surgical procedure was performed with curative intent in all patients. All patients underwent total thyroidectomy with lymph node dissection of the central neck compartment (level VI). Patients with tumors of ≥1 cm in diameter as well as both clinical and radiological validation of lymph node involvement underwent therapeutic ipsilateral or bilateral modified neck dissection (levels II–V).
